Hello friends,
It has always been my belief that the process of creation is as intriguing as the end product itself. This is especially true when embarking on a journey filled with learning, problem-solving, and bouts of sheer creativity, like game development.
Today I'm showing something that was brewing in my mind for quite a while now. This is not just to showcase what has already been built, but also an invitation to join me in this development journey. For now, I will chronicle my experiences, challenges, breakthroughs, and everything in between, in the form of these DevLogs.
But why?
Sharing my journey as I navigate through this process can offer insights to fellow developers and enthusiasts alike. Moreover, it is a personal endeavour. Logging my journey will serve as a roadmap, a way to track my progress, keeping me motivated and focused on the end goal.
Let me introduce you to CyberVoid Universe
CyberVoid takes place in a universe where the internet has evolved into the NeoWeb – a vast interconnected landscape, operating in a decentralized and mostly unregulated environment.
Our protagonist, a wanderer referred to as a 'neoDrifter', navigates this digital frontier using a public access terminal. In a world where a deck (personal access terminal) is a prized asset, our neoDrifter must seek their fortune and unravel the mysteries of the digital void.
Immersive and Engaging Gameplay by using narrative first
This game deviates from conventional interfaces, bringing an old-school terminal-based style reminiscent of classic text-based games. To enhance this experience, you will find some details that will kick some nostalgia in your experience. After you get your deck you will be able to explore the universe freely, leaving behind the terminal itself if you want.
Aesthetics
With the help of Margarida, we are crafting aesthetics for the universe to enhance immersion. We have chosen a blend of cool blues and purples, accented with bright neons, invoking a dark, cyberpunk aesthetic. It captures the essence of the game's themes while also offering a visually engaging and pleasant experience.

Narrative
Dialogue plays a crucial role in CyberVoid. Each conversation is meticulously crafted (thank you, Josh) to evoke intrigue and push further the narrative. One such instance is the mysterious message from 0x484b52, enticing the player with promises of 'real money' and urging them to contact the notorious Razor.
I don't want to spoil more about the narrative at this point, sorry :P
NFTs in Gameplay
We're experimenting with integrating Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) into the gameplay, adding another layer of engagement. In the game, Razor sends an NFT to the player, which acts as an access pass (deck). It's an example of how we're pushing the envelope in incorporating real-world tech into our narrative.
We're excited to take you along on this journey, filled with technical challenges, creative triumphs, and the thrill of crafting a new universe. Your feedback and engagement are invaluable to us, so please don't hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas.
Join us in our next DevLog as we continue to explore this universe
